Convert component masses to chirp mass and mass ratio.

Parameters:
Returns:

  • mchirp (same type as input) – Chirp mass (m1*m2)^(3/5) / (m1+m2)^(1/5).

  • q (same type as input) – Mass ratio m1 / m2 (>= 1 when m1 >= m2).

chirp_distance_to_distance(chirp_distance, mchirp)[source]

Convert chirp distance to luminosity distance.

Uses the standard relation d_L = d_chirp * (Mc / 1.2 Msun)^(5/6) where 1.2 Msun is the chirp mass of a 1.4+1.4 Msun binary.

Parameters:
Returns:

Luminosity distance in Mpc.

Return type:

float or torch.Tensor
